Major Comedy Club Chain Produces Pride Shows in NYC
Both The Broadway Comedy Club and The Greenwich Village Comedy Club have joined forces with Atlantic City comedy juggernaut Michelle Tomko to produce monthly LGBT shows debuting NYC Pride Weekend. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Pride will kick off the weekend on Thursday at 10:00p.m. at The Broadway Comedy Club at 318 W 53rd St in Midtown. Then on Sunday at 7:30p.m. comedy fans can head to The Greenwich Village Comedy Club at 99 Macdougal St. to finish off their NYC Pride with a laugh!
Michelle Tomko is the recipient of the 2016 “Best Comedian” Award from Atlantic City Weekly. She also won Philadelphia's The Last Laugh in 2015. She was the former emcee of Prides in Cleveland, North Carolina and South Jersey.
Michelle Tomko received a BFA from Kent State University. Following that she was a member of the apprentice company at the Actor Theatre of Louisville. Michelle has performed in Atlantic City at the Showboat in Tony and Tina's Wedding and Finnegan's Wake, and at Resorts in Michelle Tomko "I Won Nothing." She has a podcast on Triax 57 and she continues to play in any club that has good chicken fingers. Tomko's comedy is a fervent blend of tomboy sensibilities courtesy of the older brothers she grew up with in the Midwest and the barrage of perimenopausal chaos the East Coast world has heaped upon her. She pulls her humor from everyday observations and classic stories of family, travel, pets, and where she puts herself on the LGBT spectrum. With razor-sharp crowd work and improvisational skills to the rock-solid timing of a veteran performer, Michelle’s act is not to be missed!
“Across between a Saturday Night Live comic and a classic TV star, Carol Burnett. Michelle can be sweet and tender one minute - and then she can just rip your guts out with some nasty remark," Dahl said. "That's why we love her."
Mark Dahl – Producer Resorts Hotel and Casino, The Press of Atlantic City
